Census Population – Pittsburgh Counties

TwitterFacebookEmailPrintFriendly

The 22-county Pittsburgh region had a population of just over 3 million in 2010. The region includes dense urban areas, suburban communities and extensive rural areas. Overall population growth is the result of migration trends and natural population changes. Pittsburgh’s population decline over recent decades has been the result of net out-migration and minimal natural population decline as deaths exceed births.

Only five of the 22 counties gained population between 2000 and 2010.
