Percent Change in Jobs by Sector and Year

Annual rates of change in jobs by sector are presented below.

The Pittsburgh region weathered the recent national recession better than most of our benchmark regions. In fact, the year-over-year growth rate was negative in only one year, 2009, and even then, it was the least negative figure. The total number of jobs in the Pittsburgh region has now exceeded pre-recession levels.
