While robbery rates fluctuate in a number of cities and regions, the local rates are relatively flat and low in both the region and the City of Pittsburgh.

The Pittsburgh MSA’s robbery rate per 100,000 population in 2016 was 82.9, an increase of 8.5 percent from 2015’s robbery rate of 76.4 per 100,000 population and the second-smallest rate of all benchmark regions.

The City of Pittsburgh’s robbery rate per 100,000 population in 2016 was 330.6, an increase of 18.2 percent from 2015’s robbery rate of 279.6 per 100,000 population.
