Diabetes Rates


The Pittsburgh region’s diabetes rate for adults was one of the highest among Pittsburgh TODAY’s benchmark cities in 2016. About 11 percent of the region’s population stated that they had diabetes in 2016, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control’s Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System.

The region’s diabetes rate increased from about 10 percent in 2015, and is above the benchmark average of 9.7 percent for 2016.
